Big news from the Competition Committee: Jerry Dunlap, Mark Gran and John Havens, Jr. are joining the team!
They’re stepping into seats left open by Tom Markos, Dennis Caines and Carl Lewis, who were just elected to the ERCU Board of Directors. Since board members can’t also serve on the Competition Committee, Tom, Dennis and Carl handed off their committee duties to take on their new roles. A huge thank-you to all three for their work on the committee, and congrats on the new gig!
Jerry, Mark and John will be working alongside chair David Newton and Jim Latimer, who’s back for his third year. That brings the committee to a full house of five.
Not sure what the Competition Committee does? In a nutshell, they keep racing safe and fair. That means looking after the rules, handling protests and keeping an eye on regulations. When a rule needs clarifying mid-season, they can issue a Competition Directive (which gets posted here on the website within 24 hours). They also suggest rule book changes to the board and, down the road, to the whole membership.
